Captain Greg
Your
Captain, Gregory P. Sherwood, is a United States Coast Guard
licensed 100-ton Master and American Sailing Association
certified sailing instructor. He has been sailing on San
Francisco Bay since 1996 and is an accomplished off-shore
racer and cruiser.
In 2000, Greg decided to go semi-professional. US Sailing
offered an Instructor Qualification Clinic and in March of
that year, he started teaching Basic Keelboat part-time in
Alameda. One thing ultimately led to another and in June
of 2004 he received his USCG Masters license.
In the spring of 2005 Greg started Mission Creek Sail Tours,
LLC and that's where we are today.
Sailing is a passion and a way of life for Greg and if you're
lucky, a bit of his enthusiasm will rub off on you.
"Commodore" Cathy
Cathy
had never sailed before she stepped onboard 'Imi
Loa in May
of 1996 but she took to it like she'd been doing it all her
life. Sailing on San Francisco Bay eventually led to racing
and cruising in the Caribbean and now she partners with Greg
in the charter business (in addition to an actual career
at Cisco Systems).
Sailing Resumé
Sailors have made a good bargain
with the world. We get to borrow it, play with it,
and be released from its deadening grip. We get to
use it without owning it.
— Reese Palley
Sailors, with their built-in sense of order, service,
and discipline, should really be running the world.
